    Florida Outdoor Writers Association (FOWA)

     Deadline for this year’s competition is May 19
    Each year, the Florida Outdoor Writers awards up to three scholarships of $1000 to college students as a way to encourage them to consider careers in writing, photography or video media related to the outdoors.
      
    Florida Sea Grant is a corporate member of the Florida Outdoor Writers Association 
    Preference is given to journalism and communications majors, but in recent years, a number of winners have come from science majors as well. You can read about them at http://flseagrant.org/students/current-fellows.

    ·         an essay of between 500-1000 words;
    ·         a resume; and
    ·         a letter of endorsement from a faculty adviser.

    Several FKCC summer and fall scholarships have now been posted, including the FKCC Board of Trustees Scholarship available only to Monroe County high school graduates.  The opportunities can be viewed via our scholarship website at https://fkcc.academicworks.com/ and FKCC will continue to add new listings as they become available.  Deadlines vary for each scholarship and align with donors’ timelines so please note late applications will not be accepted.

    The Key Dear Protection Alliance (KDPA) awards  two $500 scholarships to deserving high school students  who plan careers in any area of the biological sciences, e.g. zoologist, botanist, veterinarian, marine biologist, etc or areas of environmental protection, e.g. forest ranger, environmental attorney, marine patrol, wildlife, etc.

    This scholarship is available to all students. Palmerino “Rino” D’Ascanio was a respected and loved man by every life that he touched.
