    ATTENDANCE AND FINAL EXAMS
If you have more than 6 absences in a class, then you must pass that semester exam to demonstrate mastery and earn your credit. If you fail the exam and have more than 6 absences, you fail the class. Remember that excused as well as unexcused absences count in this total. School related absences do not count against you.

If you do fail a class because of this attendance policy, and think you have good cause, you may petition the attendance committee to request an exception. To petition you must send in a written request within 5 days of receiving report cards. Sooner than that is fine. The letter must document what the absences were about, and the committee will consider requests on a case by case basis. The cases that are waived usually have doctors notes or other attachments that substantiate the reasons for the absences. Late letters not accepted after the fact. There is no waiver “form”; you create your own letter.
