The McKay Scholarship program provides an option for eligible students to attend a participating private school or transfer to another public school as defined by the program guidelines. Monroe Computes Opportunities for the 2020-2021 School Year
Incentives are doubled from $250 to $500 to reward all students who excel in AP Computer Science (AP CS) or attain the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification. <Monroe /> COMPUTE$ is making extra funding available to reward the students who earn the MOS industry certificate or pass the AP CS exam with a three or above during the 2020-2021 school year.

Notice of Public Meeting: MCSD & UTM Bargaining Team
The Monroe County School District (MCSD) and the United Teachers of Monroe (UTM) convenes annually to bargain conditions pertinent to the UTM, Teachers and SRP Contracts. A subcommittee has been formed to work on supplements and will meet on Thursday, March 4, 2021, from 3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., Thursday, April 1, 2021 from 3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Thursday, May 6, 2021, from 3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. The meetings will be conducted virtually using Microsoft Teams. Key West High School veteran teacher, Ms. Ruth Holland, has been selected by the Florida Division on Career Development and Transition (FL DCDT) as the recipient of the Debra Husted Memorial Award for Outstanding Educator for the many hours she has spent providing exemplary transition services to her students.
Take Stock in Children is expanding in Monroe County. Monroe County Education Foundation’s efforts to increase household income limits for Monroe County families will allow Take Stock to welcome 50 additional students this year. Take Stock in Children is looking for students grade 6 – 10 in Monroe County with good grades, attendance, and behavior who’s household size and income fit the program demographic. Florida Prepaid College Foundation authorized an increase to help deserving families. Applications will be accepted until June 30, 2021.
