Monroe County School Board
On Tuesday, July 23, 2019 the School Board will conduct a closed session at 4:45 pm, and a meeting at 5 pm The closed session and meeting will be held at Key West City Hall, 1300 White Street, Key West, FL, 33040
A Public Hearing on the adoption of policies and/or job descriptions may be held.
If a person decides to appeal any decision made by the Board, with respect to any matter considered at a School Board meeting or hearing, that person may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made. If signing, special seating or other accommodations are required, please call 293-1400 ext. 53323 72 hours prior to the meeting.

FINAL PUBLIC NOTICE
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has received the subgrant application for Monroe County School Board’s repairs to the Sugarloaf Elementary campus due to damages in Hurricane Irma (DR-4337-FL PW 7135). Pursuant to Executive Order 11988 and 44 CFR Part 9.12, final notice is hereby given of FEMA’s intent to provide funding for this project under the Public Assistance (PA) Program.
An initial disaster-wide Public Notice was published October 06, 2017 for Hurricane Irma. Comments and other information received were fully evaluated by FEMA along with evaluation of social, economic, environmental, and safety considerations. This notice serves as a project-specific final notice for FEMA’s funding action located within the floodplain.
Funding for the proposed project will be conditional upon compliance with all applicable federal, tribal, state and local laws, regulations, floodplain standards, permit requirements and conditions. This action complies with the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) requirements.

Project Title(s): PA-04-FL-4337-PW-07135; 14775 - Sugarloaf School Campus Complete Work
Location of Proposed Work: 255 Crane Blvd Summerland Key, FL 33042 ~ (24.66095, -81.53030)
Floodplain: Projects are in the AE Zone per Martin County FIRM Panels #12087C1292K dated 02.18.2005.
Proposed Work and Purpose: Monroe County School Board made repairs to sites within the facility due to damage from Hurricane Irma. The baseball field replaced a scoreboard with attachments, 163LF of chain link fencing & components, and 90LF of backstop. The football field replaced a scoreboard with attachments, 12 light fixtures, 4 light poles, and secured 2 additional light poles. Bldg. 3 (gymnasium) replaced 27,300SF of metal roofing, 5/8” drywall, and 9 exhaust fans.
Project Alternatives: The alternative that has been considered is the no action alternative. This alternative is not feasible as the area will remain vulnerable to flood risk, including property damage and hazards to human life and safety. Alternate locations were not considered as the damaged sites are part of a much larger facility.
Comments: This will serve as the final public notice regarding the above-described action funded by the FEMA PA program. Interested persons may submit comments, questions, or request a map of this specific project by writing to the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Region 4, 3003 Chamblee-Tucker Road, Atlanta, Georgia 30341 or by emailing FEMA-R4EHP@fema.dhs.gov. Comments should be sent in writing with the subject line FL-4337-PW-07135, Monroe County School Board at the above address within 15 days of the date of this notice.

Monroe County School District and United Teachers of Monroe Negotiations Session
The Monroe County School District and the United Teachers of Monroe convenes annually to bargain conditions pertinent to the UTM and SRP contract(s). Our next bargaining session has been scheduled for:
Tuesday, July 9th, 2019 from 9 am to noon.
Tuesday, July 16th – 9:00 to 1:00 (teacher or SRP issues)
Friday, July 19th – 9:00 to 1:00 (teacher or SRP issues)
