About Executive Director Harry Russell

    Harry Russell is a leader who serves his community, faculty and staff with pride and commitment.

    Born and raised in Key West with Conch Pride, Mr. Russell is a graduate of Key West High School.  After graduating from Florida State University, he began his career working as a substitute, then a teacher at Horace O'Bryant School while serving as Chairman of the Political Action Committee, a Contract Negotiator and Treasurer of United Teachers of Monroe.  He later became a Building Level Team Leader, Social Studies Department Head and a Teacher Leader for Social Studies at Horace O’Bryant Middle School.

    These experiences naturally progressed to appointments as Assistant Principal of Stanley Switlik Elementary and as Assistant Principal of Horace O’Bryant Middle School two years later.  In 2007, Mr. Russell became Principal of Marathon Middle/High School.  His success in Marathon moved him to Principal of Sugarloaf Elementary/Middle School in 2010.  With his Specialist degree from Florida State University, this  proud Seminole's skills as an instructional leader, the ability to motivate and manage personnel, direct involvement in school budgets, athletics, master schedule and technology progressed him in 2020 toward his current assignment as an Executive Director, using his school experience to lead the district in human capital management.
