The Monroe County School District recently held Career Day events at all three of its High Schools. Local businesses both big and small attended to talk to students about career possibilities available to them after they graduate from high school or college. The Armed Services were also well represented at all three schools to speak about a career in the Army, Navy, Airforce and Marine Corps.
Career Fairs at High Schools are a huge success

While the district has offered such events in the past, these three events were over-the-top due in large part to the efforts put forth by the hard working people in the Career and Technical Education department (CTE). The district wants to extend its thanks to all the businesses who took part. In Key West, 32 businesses sent representatives, while 21 took part in Marathon and 17 in the Upper Keys.
CTE has been working to expand their efforts at introducing students to the many opportunities they have available to them when they finish their K-12 experience and move into the next phase of their lives.
“At all three of our career fairs, I saw students engaged and curious about the employers that visited," said Caroline Bleske, Career and Technical Education Coordinator. "The energy was contagious as students embarked on their first steps to their future selves."
