On November 13th, Coral Shores High School had the honor of hosting the U.S. Navy Band “Commodores” in concert. The event was very well attended; 378 audience members enjoyed a performance of Big Band music by “The World’s Finest”. Since the concert, Band Director Suzanne Gagliardini, has received e-mails from community members thanking Coral Shores High School for the opportunity to hear such great music.
Not only are the members of the “Commodores” stellar musicians; their mission includes ceremonial support in honoring veterans, protocol performance for high level military, and support for jazz education classes and clinics.
Coral Shores High School Band members were eager to discuss anything musical with the Commodores. Student guitarist Aiden Pais, was impressed with Musician 1st Class Shawn Purcell’s playing skills and his guitar set up, which they discussed at length after the performance. Musicians underlined the importance of discipline, practice and commitment, in any endeavor. Students even engaged in lighthearted ribbing with drummer, Musician First Class Kevin C. McDonald who tested student trumpet player Emma Abel on her video gaming skills. It was a memorable evening, in our own town, in our own school.
The Navy Commodores also performed at Key West High School.
Thank you Commodores.
